Smiths tachometer
My Smiths tach doesn't start working until after the car warms up for a couple of minutes or so. Is that normal? (I just bought the car)
Thanks.

No. The problem could be in a loose wire, bad signal from the MSD (if you have one) or a defective tach.

Another Smiths tachometer question: Mine bounces when I go over bumps. Is this normal? It's done this for the 15 years that I've owned it and it's the only car I've owned where this happens to such a degree. I'll hit a dip in the road and the tach needle bounces so high/low that it skews the reading by 700, or so, RPM in either direction.
