"Official Rear Wheel Horse Power Thread" ?
I did many searches and didn't find any good threads, so maybe this can be the "Official RWHP Thread". Ok guys post them if you got them. No, should be, will be, I hope numbers. No calculated numbers either. Only post numbers if you have had your car on a chassis dyno. Please give as many details as possible.
OK I will start, 427 FE with a 428 crank, solid lifter cam, made 465 rwhp @6,100 rpm, and 475 rwtq @4,250 rpm. This was done on a Dynojet machine at LRS Performance in Lake Villa IL today. Talk to Larry, very reasonable, and knows carburetors inside and out. |
Thanks Jeff for starting that.
If you guys post your dyno results, please give as much as possible info on the drive train. AND post the dyno sheets!!! Not only the peak HP and TQ - would be nice too see how did you get there... THX! |
Pete:
Top loader with 3.73 gear and a Jag rear end. Started out far to lean, 15 to 1 and too much timing, best number of the day!! Pulled 5 degrees of timing out to get to a final of 32 degrees over a few pulls, richened up the primaries by 2 sizes and the secondaries by 4. Lost a total of 2 hp, with a much safer tune. |
427 small block, aluminum dart block, afr 205 heads, a worked over holley 850 with a victor junior netted me 420 at the wheels with a aftr or 12.1. It was a 97 degree extreamily humid day on a dyno dynamics dyno. Im told it would have read 475 on a mustang dyno. Id like to try it again to see what it actually reads on another dyno but im stuck with the official 420. Cant remeber the tq.

Sorry guys, 950 HP Holley carb. 80 in the primaries, 82 in the secondaries. 88 degrees outside. The most important detail is the SIDEPIPES. 3-1/2" Howe's.

By the way, my car pulls clean in 4th gear ( I know its not good on the crank) from 1,000 rpm until the 6,500 pill kicks in. :):):):

Either way, I'd be more interested to see what some of your cars trap in the 1/4 with these dyno numbers. |

OK - 1130 crank hp with an all natural BOSS 9 hemi from Kaase. Great fun at a track but not so much on the street. 553 rwhp for my street Cobra on a Dynojet - 521 with tame solid roller.
