Now this is ridiculous!!!!!!!
Just called one of the big suppliers of the Autolite Sta-ful batteries used in restorations.
I wanted to buy a new set of battery caps to spruce up an old Autolite battery which will used for display purposes. Well, unless I bought one of their batteries within the last 2 years and can show a receipt/proof of pruchase and from one of their approved sources, they won't sell me any caps. So if I had a battery less than 2 years old and had lost a battery cap (I've heard of people stealing them at car shows) but had no receipt, I'd be out of luck. They suggested I buy a new battery. Now that is ridiculous!!!!!!!! |
My strategy in cases like this is to call back a day later. Unless they have only one customer service rep, you'll get a different person on the phone whose response may be entirely different. Works some of the time for me, anyway.

or just go to the (any) parts store or battery shop and look at there pile of take outs----
