Any one?
Has anyone experienced the steering column sticking at temperatures above 80 degrees F?
I have an IDIDIT column and when I was down in London, the column had sticking problems. Would like to know what I can/should do. :D :D |
Most likely it's the u-joints in the system. Check for play, wear. If not it's the bushing(s) in the column.

I was in a parade once and the ididit column got very hot, smokin hot, the end result was I could hardly turn the wheel. After it cooled down it was fine.

I had a problem with my steering getting stiff after a while in hot weather. To make a very long story short, it turned out to be the rack. I could reproduce the problem on the bench with a heat gun. The rack was sticking in the passenger's side bushing at any temperature over 90* F. At 110* F it was vitrtually seized.

Thanks!
A few of the guys in London said it was the IDIDIT, they had issues as well. Since they are down the street and around the corner, I think I'll give them a call. :D :D |
