Please need speedo help
Hoestly " I've tried everything
Autometer 180 reverse speedo. Test with drill works perfect Brand new cable no kinks well lubed Little device that reverses the turn " seems to work perfect Take speedo off. Drive car. Cable turns perfect Connect to speedo and drive """. Nothing I just dont get it. It all looks perfect. Am I missing something here? I'm pretty fed up right now |
Is your reverser turning in the correct direction? Most need to be reversed.

It was working fine.
Just died |
If your reverser is the same as mine (screws to the back of the Autometer speedo) there is a square shaft in the housing that transfers the input rotation to the speedo. Mine was binding and broke the cable the first time it was used. I had to shorten the shaft slightly and, with a little grease, that took care of the problem.

Make sure the short cable coming from the reverser to the speedo is turning when the car is moving, if not, it might be the plastic gear on the end of the cable at the transmission is not clipped on properly. You can get the parts at PATCO.Com
Good luck, Bill |
These guys have sorted it out for you already. It's either not engaging or it's spinning it in the wrong direction, as in it doesn't need the reverser. Some of them can be used as a 90 adapter instead of a reverser if you need the angle to align it.
