Covering Body Mounted Mirror Holes
I want to replace and relocate my side view mirror to RayDots mounted on the windshield pillars. I already have a bullet mirror mounted to the body on the dirvers side only and when I remove it I will have holes in the body. The car is finished and fully painted and I was looking for ideas to put something over the holes to cover them that looks decent. Anyone have any ideas?

How about an oval shaped engraved metal or plastic badge with an inscription....something like
FactoryFive Mk 2 handbuilt by ZwickFF (your real name) It would be just big enough to cover the holes and be a nice conversation piece. Just thinking outside the box. Good Luck |
I have moved 4 or 5 mirrors from the fender to windshield post. I make a stainless plate and have a knife company to engrave the plate. I attach them with double back tape or emblem glue.
I have used 3/16 stainless and bend it to match the curve of the fender. Some I made out of 1/8" stainless. Dwight http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/DSCN3820.JPG |
That looks great. I haven't installed my mirrors yet, and I was dreading drilling holes in the fender. Have you got another angle to look at? Could you countersink the holes to hold the mirror. There is only a fine edge around mine mirror base. Has your's got a flat base?

body holes
I had the same problem on both sides. I used cadillac fender turn signles as a kind of reverse fender scoop. people ask what they are and I just tell them the truth, no one has walked away laughing yet.
