Cobra War Paint

Here is a picture of the new war paint applied to my car for the Le Mans Classic. As the "mission" involved an excursion into enemy occupied territory, I thought some appropriate artwork would be required.

Fannin' Fanny was an Avro Lancaster bomber from 427 squadron of the Royal Canadian Airforce that operated from RAF Leeming in the UK during WWII.

Here is a picture of the original artwork on the aircraft that I had recreated.

The small emblem is the squadron emblem and portrays a lion rampant in front of a maple leaf with the motto "Ferte Manus Certas", which translates as "Strike with a sure hand".

She proved to be very popular while I was in France.

I know that you are in the UK and this would be quite a drive for you---but anyone going to the other LONDON,OHIO Cobra gathering stateside should set aside time coming or going to see the US AirForce Museum at Wright-Patterson Field for a display of lots of nose art on aircraft.

Very cool.

Your a braver man than I - Gunga Din. My wife probably wouldn't let me out in public with that on the side of my car.

But, I like old WWII aircraft and it is cool.:)

It's printed onto vinyl so I can remove it anytime I want to. :)

For some bizarre reason, the above image of my car is upside down when viewed on my iPad. ???

Gramps

I saw this while searching the net for my grandfather's plane. My Grandfather took that picture and the gentleman in the window was his best friend named Warren who went on with that plane. This is neat to see I'll be showing this to my family.

It's funny how the RCAF got away with pinup art on their planes, very rare to see it on RAF plane. There is of course Just Jane, but still rare.
