Horn Button Option

Here's an option for an alternative horn button for 9-bolt wheels. It's a Lecarra polished aluminum horn button (Lecarra Steering Wheels 3221 - Lecarra Horn Buttons - Overview - SummitRacing.com), with an emblem from Finishline (Finish Line Accessories).

I think it looks pretty nice. If anyone has any questions, or if the picture didn't work on this thread, please look in my album. Hope someone likes it...

Hi Fritz:
Is that a LeCarra Wheel? How wide? I have a LeCarra 14"leather and would like to change for wood but they told me they no longer manufacture them. THis is from the LeCarra site .
Tks
Lou

I bought the wheel from Shell Valley actually. The adapter is from Summit Racing (ididit 2201310040 - ididit Steering Wheel Adapters - Overview - SummitRacing.com).

I know that the original horn button that came with adapter said Lecarra on it, which is why I made the assumption that the aluminum one in the picture would fit. I wouldn't be surprised if the steering wheel is Lecarra, but I'd have to check. I can try to measure my wheel for you, if you want?

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I don't check this forum as often as I'd like to. You can shoot me an email too, if you want.

Fritz:
No sweat mate, it is slowing down so I am looking what to do for the non ridding months soon to come. Let me know when you have a chance to measure it. I have a Ford steering column perhaps a Mustang II so my hub adapter is LeCarra Ford.
Cheers

My wheel is a 15" diameter. And I tried to look for a 14" wheel...this is all I found.

Finish Line Accessories

Hope it is what you're looking for. I really like Finish Line. The stuff I've received from them has been awesome, and whoever I speak to when I call in has been very patient and helpful!

Question for Fritz

I just bought the same wheel in a kit from Branda which came with the black plastic horn button. There is so little out there on the specifics of this polished one. I'm trying to figure out if this button has one or two horn connectors. Do you happen to remember? Thanks! I'm hoping to class my car up a bit with this one.

Fritz 09-04-2012 12:21 PM

It has a single connector to ground the button when pressed. I had to crimp on a second wire to ground the horn piece to the wheel adapter piece, and then screw the other end of the wire onto the adapter using the pull-out holes. The horn piece already has a ring connector with a screw that you can use to do this. You might not have to do this, if the horn button is touching the adapter/column enough to make the ground.

It was pretty easy and painless. Sorry if my explanation isn't very clear. It literally took me 3 minutes. You can always email me via the site with any questions or whatever.

Fritz
