Bought a already built shelby cobra *need some help*
I'm having problems identifying who made the kit. The only clue I have is a gold metal plate in front of the driver windshield but under the hood. It says the following:

hmmm... not much to go on. Can rule out a LOT of manufacturers right off the bat, but need more pics of the chassis/engine bay/foot boxes for a better determination. The lack of cutouts for the sidepipes is interesting, and may narrow the field, but I could (and probaby AM) wrong, so I won't yet offer up any guesses. Do you know WHEN it was built?

those look like Corvette side pipes......Cobra body on a Corvette chassis maybe???

It is a cobra body on a 1974 corvette chassis. It has a 454 in it but all other parts are yet to be identified.

Back on June 29 page 4 is advertised a Cobrette. Described as on a early 70's Vette as yours. Contact the seller and maybe that can lead you to your answers. Sorry about the incident.

It may be just me, but it almost looks as if that has a longer wheelbase than the majority of replicas? Perhaps to suit the Vette chassis?
There was a company I believe that was called Classic, that had an extended wheel base roadster. I don't know if they still exist today. Depending on where the damage is on you car, you might be able to "splice" in a body section from a different manufacture. You may even be able to put out some feelers, for a body section, from someone who has an already damaged body, that they are willing to chop up. This has been done before! |
There are a couple of companies that use C3 covrette frames and install a Cobra like body. One indicator is the width and the flatness immediately behind the cockpit. This looks like a Cob-Ret. I think that's what it's called. It's built in Phoenix by Jeff Classic.
