Differential Vent Leaking
I recently acquired a early 80s Contemporary Classic with a Jag Independent Rear End. A differiental vent has been added (at what appears to be the fill opening) with a braided hose and filter end that is terminated in the upper wheel well of the left rear tire. After finding fluid on the floor of the garage, it appears to be leaking out of the filtered end of the vent. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

YES! A friend and I went round and round over this issue some years back. Fluid levels and types of fluid had no effect. The cure is some jag covers do not have a shield inside the cover to protect the vent from splash. Its a simple piece of sheetmetal, but thats the cure. Drain the diff and remove the cover. I think you will see a bare hole. I will try to find a picture to help illustrate.

Got the pics. These clearly show the splash guard or baffle

I had a similar baffle plate installed 15 years ago in my Ford 9" center section for the same reason. I haven't had any leakage since then.

the ford 8.8 irs diff has a problem with this also. two different diffs, both with the shield, one with a trac loc and the other with a torsen. the trac loc would have lube crawl out the vent hose unless properly routed to a container, the torsen has no problem and just uses a hose.

If your vent is the fill opening (level plug), that is your problem.
Any venting needs to be above the fluid level.

Problem solved
I had a vent opening drilled and tapped above the fill opening, and had an internal baffle (per the supplied pictures) welded in. Have not had any problems since re-installing the cover.
Thanks for all of your responses and pictures.
