Recommendation for electric fuel pump?

Any recommendations for an inline (not in tank) electric fuel pump that can be mounted about 6" above the tank (which is 8" deep) and the draw is from the bottom of the tank.

Most electric fuel pump instructions require the pump to be located below the tank suggesting that the pumps can't draw much head.

I've heard that gerator type pumps (versus vane type pumps) can draw the fuel upwards and self prime, but even these pump instructions (like Mallory)require the pump to be mounted below the tank.

As a historical note the original Cobra's with Stewart Warner 240A electric fuel pumps were mounted well above the tank.

Any suggestions?

Get a pair of 240 A pumps, look correct, be correct, and be worry free, they're bullet proof.

Of course the last I looked they're $450-$500 when you can find them. Does anyone have a good source for these?
