top loader cover seal
What's the best way to seal the top cover ? My gasket is saturated with gear oil, was wondering what type of sponge they used to make it !:CRY:
I'd just use the ford black sealer on it without the gasket, but I might have leakage out the little breather hole in the cover. (the gasket acts as a baffle for the breather hole) Maybe I'll try making a gasket from a non-porous material + the black stuff. Anybody have/had this problem and found a cure?? |
I've made them out sheet gasket paper the right thickness with a little #2 gasket sealer. Like you say don't forget to put the holes in it for the breather ...

Yeah, going to cut a gasket and use the black stuff. It's not like it's something you need to access for service.
