VIN Plate Info needed

I just received my VIN Plate from Finish Line Accessories. I have a few questions:

1. Where is the proper placement (assuming a 1967 Shelby Cobra Replica)?
2. What is the proper way to stamp the VIN on it? Is it ink or actually stamped?

Thanks!!

Early and later cars were metal stamped, somewhere in the middle they were hand etched. Tag should go top front inside on your passenger footbox.

If you need help stamping it you can send it to me. I also have the 1965 Cobra footbox tag above it on 289 cars.

Thanks for the reply and offer! So to confirm, it is placed on the passenger side, below the dash, straight up from where the passenger's left shin would be?

What would you charge to stamp it? What do you use?

Thanks again!!

I would use these 36 Piece 1/4" Steel Letter/Number Stamping Set
I think that would have to be a Christmas present, I couldn't charge for a small job like that.

It would be mounted on the top of the footbox, under the hood.

Not sure where this is?

On original cars, it's mounted on top of the right hand footbox. You'd have to have the hood open to see the footbox.

Would a chassis number of CSX3361 make sense then?

Only if it is in fact CSX3361.

Well, that was kind of where I was going...

According to something I saw online, the last CSX3 Series was number CSX3360. By using a number greater that never existed, it would not be like misrepresenting. I thought it would be a fun way to describe a Kit Car that couldn't be misinterpreted?

I don't think you should put any CSX number on it if it's not a CSX car. If you do, make sure you add "REPLICA" after it. There shouldn't be any confusion as to it's origin.
That's my opinion anyway.

What numbering do replica guys use then?

Figured it was the best of both worlds... Get that original look and feel but use a number that doesn't exist on an authentic Cobra...

I don't know anyone who has put a CSX number on a replica. Some put their chassis number on the vin plate. Whatever that number may be from the manufacturer.
