Pertronix
I currently have an older MSD Digital 6 box and MSD billet distributor in my 482 FE Cobra. It appears tht the box is giving up the ghost. While troubleshooting, we pulled the distributor and dropped in a Pertronix Flame Thrower with Ignitor III distributor and the spark was amazing! No box required and it has an internal rev limiter. Has anyone used this distributor? Good or bad results?

Years ago when I was racing VW's, almost everybody in the sport used Pertronix or Ignitor ignitions. They worked great but I don't know anything about them outside of the air cooled VW world. They were point replacments for .009 and .050 distributors back then.

Looks like they have come a long way. Of course, that was almost 30 years ago!
Looks like they still make the same module though. I was thinking of taking a period correct dist and replacing the points with their stuff for the Cobra. Would look the same from the outside.

Pentronix
I have done what Larry suggests which is use a stock dist and put the Pentronx guts in them so they look correct from the outside. I have used them on four different Cobras and I love them.

Thanks King-Cobra. I have my car at a shop a couple of blocks from Pertronix and they do alot of R&D with them. Les Richey's old shop now run by his son, Randy called Performance Associates. Been building race cars for over 40 years. I send my car there when I am feeling I have reached the "moron" level. I was amazed at the spark improvement. The other plus is that I wouldn't have to go to the chiropractor after trying to get under the dash to mess with the MSD box!:3DSMILE:

I've replaced the points in my 66 Mustang with a Pertronix module and am very impressed with the results. Easy install, completely hidden for a stock look, and is a great bargain for the price.
