Maybe a Superformance

Well since selling my shell valley I have wanted to "Step Up" my game a little on my next cobra. I have found this beauty of a Superformance MKIII in California I am going out to see soon.

It appears to have a lot of the things I wanted in a car and I have the car on hold with a check until I get there to approve or deny it. I always said I will drive the next car before I buy it so the wife and I have booked two round trip tickets to go for a drive on the west coast!:D

The car is in the mid to upper $40's and has a 393 stroker. I have the dyno sheet and it is all that I need to get me in trouble again lol. The thing I liked was Superformance putting the car together and making most of the parts. It has 18,000 miles on it but I still can't wait to try out the ride woth a fully independant rear end.

I leave on the 8th and am already dreaming of this car at night!

What a beauty

You will love the Superformance quality. We have club members that have upwards of 30,000 miles in theirs and the cars still ride like they were brand new. Just like anything else, you have to take care of it.

I have owned 3 already and I can tell you that the Superformance quality is apparent in every aspect of the car. Make sure to inspect the car top and bottom. Check underneath the car if possible and if you buy it invest in having someone go over the car entirely. Tighten all bolts and nuts.

Check the suspension especially in the rear shock area to see if there is damage.

What number car is it? Make sure it has a soft top. The car in the mid 40's is priced right. A brand new roller today, without a soft top, stripes, will run you a base of $49,900, without engine and transmission. You will be buying a car that retains its value.

Congrats and goodluck.

You will love it. When I bought my Superformance in 2006, my wife and I flew from home (Atlanta) to the car (Richmond, VA). We had one way tickets. If the car was as described we were going to give the owner a check and drive the car home on the Blue Ridge Parkway. That's what we did. So here we are in 2013. The car has been bulletproof. Drive it anywhere. It had around 13,000 miles on it when I got it. Around 21 or 22,000 now. The best. Won't sell til I can't drive anymore. I'm 63, so hopefully that's a long time.

Still brings a smile to my face every time I am around it.

Here is mine

Here is mine the weekend I drove it home from Ross, Ohio, 11,000 miles ago... I drive mine anywhere, any time, Summer or Winter, the car handles awesome. My wife just loves riding in it, and that my friend is a sale.

The build quality on the Superformance cars is hard to beat. I have had 1061 since new (going on 11 years). Odometer is about to roll past 67,000 miles. It is as tight as a drum and bullet proof.

First off, thank you all for the assurance of what I am purchasing and the price to boot. It does have the soft top as well as the tonneau cover. It has a new fuel cell and just underwent a $4000 detailing and tune-up. The previuos owner did a lot of cruises in the car, and I am dying to put my butt in the seat and drive it.

I will get it on the rack and check it but I would hope the $4000 detail and tune-up should have this under control. Like I say come on the 8th!;)

Kirk, I second all said above. I have nearly 30,000 Miles on my 2002 Superformance (428FE) and love it. My wife and I have driven the car down to our home in Florida from Michigan for the last 2 winters (this year nearly 3000 miles as we toured the North East before heading south) They are great road cars and incredible on the track. As an owner you should check out the SCOF which along with this forum will provide you with a wealth of knowledge on maintaining your car. Enjoy the ride and best wishes. Here are some of my favorite pictures on the Blue Ridge Parkway this fall. Rick

I LOVE my Superformance and never get tired of getting in it for a run! I'm sure you're going to have many fun days and at the price you shouldn't get hurt! Good Luck and hope your dream comes true! From Pittsburgh!

Superformance builds a nice car, I own one. But several other manufacturers build with better quality components.
