World Windsor JR. heads any good ??
Are those heads any good for my stock 302 carbureted with holley570, Weiand intake with an E303 already installed in the engine for my Cobra. A guy is selling those used. They have 1.6 Crane roller rockers I believe and Manley SS valves. is it worth $800.00 cdn in Canada. Here everything is more expensive to buy compare to the States. They have 58CC but I don't know much more about those cast iron heads, is it a good buy, what do you guys think, thanks

I'm guessing these are Bill Mitchell World Products heads. I had a set on a mild 351. They worked well for that application.

Just to get some pricing perspective, I'd look the parts up on summitracing.com. Add all the parts up, cut the value in half and then compare that to the asking price. If you're paying more than half the sum of the new parts then it may not be that great of a deal.
That's my rule of thumb, anyway. I have the Windsor Jr. heads on my 302, which I've been very happy with. Well, but that didn't stop me from building a wicked little 331 stroker, soon to grace my engine compartment, and wake the neighbors on Sunday mornings. DD |
I checked from Summit and what he's asking for is a little below half of the price If I was buying new fr everthing and thanks for reassuring comments about the choice, I think I will go see him this week end and possibly come back with the heads, thanks guys !

Michael,
The improvements of this series of heads over stock are as follows: 180cc intake runners, stock port locations, high-swirl, heart-shaped chambers; 58cc on the Jr. and 64cc on the Sr. Screw-in 7/16" rocker studs and fully machined valve cover rails. If they were bought assembled from World, they have Manley valves, (Street Flo on the hydraulic apps and RaceMaster stainless on solid apps)) 1.94 x 1.60 x 11/32, and either 1.250" single spring (100# seat) for hydraulic cams up to .560" lift, OR 1.437" dual springs (125# seat) for solids up to .600 lift. Also Manley 7 degree retainers. The current owner may have rebuilt them with different parts. Also check the chamber volume to see if the decks have been cut, raising compression. World recommended 14mm, .460" reach tapered seat, 5/8" hex plugs, heat treated pushrods, FelPro #90361 intake gaskets and #9333PT head gaskets. They were not a bad head for being iron and mild combinations like your 303 cam. A lot of restricted-class circle track guys bought them. |
Mike-you done learning about these heads?
Post their condition to compare to my data. |
