Any predictions on what this 289 Cobra will bring? Will the fact that it is a worm & sector car have an impact?

What a little beauty, W&S is correct and anything correct makes its value better. Thanks for the post.

Correct is one thing; suspension geometry is another. The early worm and sector Cobras do not steer and handle as well as their later rack and pinion counterparts, and this is usually reflected in their sales prices, which tend to be 10 -20% less than a comparable r&p car.

If the car were 'modified' to include rack and pinion steering, would the cost in less authenticity be greater than the market for a well-handling original would support?

My estimation it will sell in the 535-565 range. However the market is crazy so sky is the limit............

Huh? OK, assuming I understand the question, the best answer would likely be, wait and see who bids on it/ buys it, and they'll be able to tell you that. It's hard to say whether modifications, even when beneficial, outweigh originality in a given buyer's mind. Inevitably, some "resto-mods" bring the big bucks while others fall flat.
