12 Volt Air Compressor
I have no spare tire or jack in my car and am concerned that having a flat on the road could cause quite a headache and ruin a nice ride. Any suggestions about how to remedy this problem? I know there are some 12 volt air compressors on the market to blow up tires. Does anyone have any recommendations? What about the "Slime" or other products to seal a hole in the tires? I'd like something that is light, convenient and of relatively good quality that could be stored in the trunk and be reliable. Any suggestions or alternatives?

I carry a tire plug kit that I bought from a motorcycle parts company. It includes glue, plugs, and an installation tool.
The compressor is a Campbell-Hausfield that I bought from Wal Mart for a few bux. Then I took it apart and threw away anything that didn't look like an air compressor. The whole kit fits in a zip lock bag that you can stash in any small corner or crevice. Between the roadster and the Harley, I'v been carrying that kit around for more than 10 years. I use the compressor now and again. But I'v never used the plug kit. |
Flat tire
I like the idea of a stripped down air compressor. I may get one.
I carry a large can of Fix a Flat. None of the newer stuff contains a flammable propellant. The Nut In todays paper our Menards Hardware store has a small one on sale, only $7.99. WooHoo |

I bought the pump that was on sale. Its really small. Probably would take about 20 minutes to fill one of my 17 inchers.

I've owned the same unit for 3 years. Keep a tire plug kit with it. You'll have spent maybe $70.00 and gained peace of mind. David |
The tire "Slime" is a great product, but it's for off-road low-speed equipment. You would have terrible imbalance problems in any high speed application.
