QA-1 Shock Bump Stops
Has anyone used these QA-1 Bump stops (BC01) that fit over the shock rod?
Bump Stops | QA1 Suspension Components | Circle Track Racing Shock Accessories You cut them to the desired length to keep from hitting the tires on the fenders. Just wondering how they worked. |

The shocks really aren't designed to serve as a stop. If the shock "bottoms" out more than just a few times, the bearings in the end will pound out. If you are using the style that uses rubber bushing in the shock ends, you may get away with it, but if you are using their poly-bearing style that installs with a snap ring, you're headed for trouble. Been down that road with my car. I ended up putting stops on the frame to control the bottoming out. Paul |

I have looked at several of the replica manufacturers and it looks like most use 10" springs for the front and have no method to limit up travel of the shock other than installing stiff springs. I have read of several brands rubbing the tires on the fenders given the right situation. Of course this varies depending on ride height, wheel back spacing, and spring stiffness. I guess what I am trying to accomplish is to limit the up travel with this device before hitting a fender. I called QA-1 and they claim that is what this is designed for with coil-overs. I have built a droop stop so that is taken care of but I can't see any other resonable up travel limiting device. Perhaps why most manufacturers just put in really stiff springs. I'm just trying to see how they work or are there other options.
