Speed on the streets can be really really bad sometimes

I have posted this on a few forums tonight as this really affected me

Thanks for taking the time to read

Just yesterday 2 blocks from my house a guy was speeding through an intersection and hit a small toyota car broadside , the guy driving the car which was speeding is in the hospital , all others were dead on the scene , 5 in total , 2 kids 3 and 5 and 3 generations of a family

the scene was so bad that the police , ambulance and fire fighters were crying at the scene , at one time they thought there were 6 people dead until they put all the body parts together

Think about it next time you put the pedal to the metal on the public roads

I know I will never be the same after this crash

That's very sad. Unfortunately there are way to many irresponsible drivers on the road.

Thanks for posting, pray for everyone's safety and safe keeping.

Rob
I saw that on the news last night. Absolutely horrific. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

It is horrible having to see such carnage just retired from seeing too much of it myself. That being said there will always be the idiots in a hurry trying to run these lights or intersections and especially those not paying attention while out piloting there 2 ton battering rams.
I have always hot rodded out on the streets and highways but never in situations like this. There are places everywhere that if the need for speed hits go for it.It is all about being responsible and in going for it you are putting no one in harms way.

Well said Mike! Well said! Prayers for all those affected by stupid drivers. That being said. Please take care with that 800+ hp Boss Hog! I like you just the way you are M8 :)

That's a tragic story Rob and ...sadly... an all-too-common one. Events like this can be so life altering for everyone involved, and hardly worth whatever "time savings" drivers think they're getting from speeding.

There is really no point in driving aggressively at any time, and especially during rush hour. The signal lights and other traffic will always negate any gains people THINK they're getting from speeding. They won't arrive at their destination any sooner, and run a greater risk of getting into trouble (accident, cops, etc.).

Far better to Zen out and just drive...

Rob sad event that need not have happened...ever.
Year's ago I was a defensive driving instructor for a period of time, one thing that always stuck with me was...always look left, then right and then left again before pulling out into any cross traffic or turning. Can't trust anybody or anything, so be safe, do it yourself.

Break out the burrito's .... nothing to see here.

REAL 1 04-30-2013 04:10 PM

Case in point. Speeding on the street and street racing is stupid and irresponsible.

High HP cars are just and should be just for show and shine on the street.

Thats all I have to say about that.

patrickt 04-30-2013 04:36 PM

Wait a minute, if you drive really fast you will spend less time on the road getting there, so it's actually safer because there's less time to get in an accident, right?

Amen Real 1. I was an AZ State Highway Patrolman in southern AZ a life time ago. Some of the images from accident scenes, especially of children, have never left me.

Same here, the kids were always a bad situation to deal with, and have never left me

Agree 100% over the years doing what I did for a living saw a lot of carnage. Actually witnessed a bad 3 car accident was the first vehicle (bucket truck) to stop could sense something about to happen and watched it all unfold like in slow motion. A woman was thrown out over one vehicle landed in the road, she survived. One I will never forget! Sad part of it all is humans will always be human and accidents are going to happen it is what it is.

Thanks for posting! I think we need to be reminded sometimes of being extra carefull with our cars when on public roads. It does not take much to loose it in a Cobra!

Up here in Ontario Canada, they take your car, at the roadside. Then it might be crushed. You are then awarded a 10,000 dollar fine, for just 30 miles per hour over the limit. Plus you are charged with dangerous, and careless driving. (Two different charges) Good luck getting insurance after getting any other vehicle. High speeds, and street racing is a big no-no up here.
