Problem with my Roush 402 S/R
Hi Guys Having problem with plugs foiling up Heavy carbon. I don't much history with this engine only 100 miles or so on new plugs E3s . Went to cruise night on Friday night in rush hour, i was in stop and go traffic 30 minutes away from my home. When finally got to show it sounded like running 3 or 4 cly. only. when left i was able to drive it hard and some what clear up problem. check all the normal thing choke, air-filter etc. looking information what plugs you guys are using gap? timing? car has MSD ing. 6al unit in it.

There's nothing magical about a spark plug. It either works or it doesn't. Use a standard copper core Autolite plug, as recommended for your heads.

It all depends on what heads you have. Look in the book for the heads, and see what plugs they recommend. Then cross reference for the Autolite plugs.
I'd probably start with a 0.035" gap and adjust from there.
I have Dart Pro-1 heads. i use a Autolite 3924 plug, gapped to 0.035". That seems to work well.

Looking in my old parts catalog for Roush, they recommend either Accel 276 or champion RV12C.

It's the E3 plugs. Throw them in the garage and buy standard Autolite or Champion..

I use the E3 plugs and really like them. It seems to run better. I think it is that you don't have to gap the E3's, but not exactly sure why.

I'm running the Autolite 3924 plugs in my Roush 402. What do your plugs look like? There was a problem with the intake gaskets failing on the Roush 402s (happened to my motor). |

If you have an MSD box, then I believe you gap your plugs at .045 or .010 larger than the recommended gap w/o an MSD.

I have a Roush 402 in #2259 and probably have the same engine setup since cars are both about the same age.
Mine came from Roush with Autolite 605 and .040 gap. I've been using that setup for all plug changes and plugs look good when removed.
There are a lot of plugs ans gaps but for right now, I'll stick with what seems to work.
