Ca. seat belt question
I'm putting together my pile-o-parts for my Contemporary. Does anybody know what belts are required for the California laws? I'm building a street version with no roll bar so shoulder harnesses are out. I'm wondering if I need a single shoulder belt to go with the lap belt also.

Just the lap belt will do.

Paul is right if you don't meet the wrong CHP. I always wore the shoulder belts anyway as I had to have them for racing and they just felt better than the lap and crotch belt alone. Kind of like the windshield wiper thing. Depends on which inspector you get. If I was just going a short distance I would put my shoulder belts back in the place behind the seat and they couldn't be seen. Never had a problem when a CHP was looking at the car and I got pulled over several times so they could just look it over.
