LA exotic Cobra I looked at
Hi guys, I am currently looking at getting a cobra replica. I am not the type of person that has the patience to spend the time/money on doing a kit from the ground up, and importing a kit car from the USA to Canada is next to impossible. So needless to say I am looking at finding one in my province that has already been registered on the road. I just looked at one that is LA Exotic (and I understand they are now B&B), but I am a tad concerned. Obviously there aren't as many LA exotic cobras out there as Factory Five, and this make me wonder about parts if needed.
-Stone chips are notorious in Alberta for ruining windshields. Would it even be possible to get a replacement windshield if needed and if so would they be a fortune? -The current owner previously contacted B&B and he was given conflicting info. One person said it was their LA exotic car and another said it wasn't. If the manufacturer doesn`t even know it`s his car, how difficult must it be to get parts. -I understand the car is build from the ground up, and not using a donor mustang car. This is cool in a sense, but when I need (for example) a new steering column, rad,shocks, etc...how do I know what to look up? -any possibility of getting a roof for those sudden flash floods? I'm sure there are more questions that may arise, but I am just throwing out a few questions that first came to mind. thanks |
You can also get parts for that car from McGill Manufacturing who was partners with B&B for years. Most of the parts are standard. The body molds are owned by BAMF Kit Cars in Utah. They also build Cobras and their frame is similar. The inside of the doors and the tunnel are sligtly different than the B&B or McGill cars but that's about it. Most windshields are from International Wholesale that are part of the Shell Valley companies.

what about other replacement parts that I had mentioned above? is it just trial and error

QA-1 for the Shocks. Ididit for the steering column. I think most of the older ones used the Mustang radiator, but there are guys on this forum that own LA Exotics and can confirm. If you question if it's an LA Exotics post some pictures of the body and engine compartment with the hood open, and we can confirm. Here are some pictures from the ad. sorry if they are too small to be able to properly tell. I guess it came from a guy in North Carolina that makes cabon fibre in rolls. My question is why does the metal portion go behind the driver and passenger area instead of just the passenger area. I have never seen that before

Sounds like a pain in the butt, and talking to the owner of the Edmonton cobra (posted below) it is a headache beyond belief. Suddenly info seeking is called hunting/pecking. I HAVE imported a car from the USA before (a 98 viper), and it was a stressful process, so I can only imagine the problems for a kit car. |
