Marc not trying to be too short, but Google MSD and look for their trouble shoot section and give the tech reps a call. May help to have a volt meter to check the simle things first then go to the more comlex. Always check for "great" grounds.

It's also possible that the pickup coil in the distributor is dropping out when it gets hot. Just another thing to check.

Hi Marc,
If your coil is mounted on the engine or close to a heat source I would suspect the coil has been damaged by heat. I doubt it would be an intermitant earth as this probably wouldn't improve with cooling of the components.
Good luck, finding the problem but I strongly suggest changing the coil.
cheers

Do a resistance check of the coil. Check the MSD website for directions and specs. Any oil residue coming from the coil body? What position is the coil mounted in? Letting the car sit in the driveway and run or driving it will produce the problem? I assume you have checked all the connections and wire crimps. If you can reproduce the problem in the driveway, test the coil again (above) when the engine dies. You will need to do the same with the box, test again when engine is dead. You might also consider checking the ignition switch (if you tap power to the MSD's small red wire there. Is the small red wire still "hot" when the key is on and the car has stalled? Could be a internal issue with the ignition switch.

Check your coil. I've had 2 Blasters fail on me this year, and mine is located far from any heat source. Roush told me they have a number of them that have failed and correctly steered me in that direction. New coil, and voila, runs perfect both times.
I also had a problem with the magnetic pickup in the distributor and had to change that out last year.

FYI: Many of the reported problems people have with MSD units are related to power surges, high resistance because of poor or corroded wire connectors, etc. Always good to check all these items from time to time.
