Over the years I have watched others doing similiar things. Just reached a point of time where I can do it myself - both time and money permitting. Glad my experiences and trip creates the journey for you. I often lived Shelby's Hertz renter cars imagining driving them in the 60's - similiarly all through Shelby and others memories of the era. |
Bernie...just catching up. Some of us are working rather than hauling butt down country lanes scaring mad dogs and Englishmen :p
Really want to hear about the travels in Cornwall...never got to that little corner. When you're heading back to London...if you can, stay south for a bit before heading north, Beaulieu Car Museum in the New Forest. Really truly a great collection. |

It did not make the museum. Maybe next time. Took the Renter car back today, as we are now in London at your country mans London house. The Vanderbilts constructed a holiday home in South Kensington. We are currently staying at the Vanderbilt on Cromwell Road, in nice big suite that was probably servants quarters.. ideally located in South Kensington just yards from all of the iconic landmarks. Went via a car wash to use engine cleaner on the wheels to soak of the brake pad dust and pressure wash on the inner guards to clean the rubber residue off.. Not sure...... Those Michelin tires/tyres don't seen to get a lot of miles before they are worn out.. |

Hi mate. Yes must be honest and say I have not been thinking about you there working.. Yes back in London heart now. We have a week at the Vanderbilt in the heart of Kensington. Anne wanted to be within walking distance of all the big icons. She was here last year for around six weeks so knows her way around - my own little tour guide with benefits.... she picks up the dinner Bill. Cornwall was really a lovely location. We stayed in St. Mawes at Olga Polizzi's Tresanton Hotel. It is right on the coast. I will send you a few photos via email. If you look at the Tresanton site we grabbed the terrace room right at the front. It is a great room. You feel as if you are on a boat. Took the St. Mawes to Falmouth ferry which was a great way to see the coastline and castles. Lunch was in the Star and Garter Inn over looking the coast. An old English Inn with big glasses of beer they call pints. Any wonder the English can only have six beers before passing out - half a gallon of 6% affected me a bit.. ... Just rubbing it in knowing your working. Anne had organised four days at Polizzi's other venue just out of Cornwall at the Endsleigh. This home was built by the Duke of Bedford. A fantastic 1500 acre estate property. Private salmon and trout fishing etc. The countryside is really fantastic down south. Then we travelled onto Brighton for four days prior to arriving here in London town. Now you can start planning as I have done the research... :3DSMILE: Cheers Bernie |
Mmmm my renter now is a London taxi cab or open top bus.
Think London commuters will be safe..... Glad to share the fun driving on the right side of the road. |
Mind the pigeons when sitting upside in the open.
...just sayin :p |
Jamo
Yes I have never seen so many pigeons. Not to mentions signs stating "Don't feed the Pigeons" "Don't walk on the grass".... Luckily they are not in Spain as they are culled for Pigeon Pie.. Sent you an email. Can't find your email address at work RB@ etc.... |

I just drive along and watch the oncoming cars if they move right I pass on the left and visa versa... Strange when you move from country to country so quickly waking up wondering where you are .... or is that early onset dementia .. Enjoying London but if I don't see another scone, jam and cream I will be happy, but when in London do what Londoners do.. :3DSMILE: |
Mmmmm no camera or speeding fines in the mail...:MECOOL:
