Mag wheel look from Vintage -New

We have had many requests over the years to create the magnesium appearance with our HA15 wheels. There is nothing like real magnesium if weight is a factor and also the appearance which can change from black to green to silver gold or a mixture of all!
The down side is cost and maintenance ,many owners or original cars store their mags and run on aluminum replicas.
Most of the requests were for goldish centers and flat rims so here is a link to our offering - we used multi layers of gold and silver to create the effect on the centers and outer lips are media blasted.
You will have to single click on the image on the web site to enlarge. -hope you like !! :) If the link below does not work please go to custom finishes on Vintage Wheels, Hot Rod and Muscle car

Bob,

Thanks for posting! These gold center wheels are beautiful and will set off many Cobra's for those that want this look.

That is some beautiful work. Considering the real mags don't fit the Kirkhams, I may seriously consider these in the future for my Kirkham.

"May?" Why would you not?

My Yoko's will age out in a year or two and then I plan to buy some Avons. I'll likely buy a set of these mag-appearing wheels along with the Avons at the same time.

I also need to sell my extra set of Trigos and clear out some garage space.

I'd also like to wait for a sale. :D

Just paint your wheels now and save $1800 bucks, it's just gold paint and some sandpaper to the lip of the wheel...I don't think they will tarnish like a real mag wheel...

Nice addition yo the lineup Bob.

Hi Fordracing65
If you already have wheels and dont need a second set , yes refurbish your existing ones , may be quite a bit of trial and error involved ,if you need any help on that give us a call . Precise masking off when you blast and then a second time when you paint is important for great results.
You will need a sand blaster with correct media and some decent spray equipment, unfortunately we cant supply the PPG codes for the paints as they are a custom mix.
The wheels will not age like magnesium but the outer rims will oxidize with time.

They do look nice...Getting the paint right would be the hard part without some trial and error...

I'm definitely not a painter. And I don't have the time or patience. But I do have $1,800, which will provide me a professional job with what appears to be the proper color and outer wheel lip finish.

They need that old white, chalky corrosion on the shiny bits.

Bob provided me with the authentic looking Shelby Daytona Coupe wheels in a wimbeldon white and I couldnt' be happier with the way they look.

When my new coupe gets a little further along I will post some pictures.

Well, there's always that slim chance that Fran will produce some real mag wheels where Kirkham owners can specify their backspacing since the Halibrand versions will not fit the Kirkham's billet aluminum suspension. **)

Notwithstanding, I think I'll be getting me set of Vintage wheels in the future.
