clutch slave cylinder
I own a mid 80's Everitt Morrison cobra with a 351 Cleveland motor. Having trouble finding a replacement clutch slave cylinder that is broke. It mounts to the bell housing. Any ideas?

One option is to look at a catalog of slave cylinders (Click here for an example) and search for one that looks like your old one. If it looks the same, compare the dimensions to see if it will work. When you find a match, order it. ... BTW, some auto parts houses have paper versions of these catalogs if you find that easier to use.

Is it really broken or in need of a rebuild? Mine leaks and just needed a rebuild. It's a Girling which was the go to stuff in the old days and now owned and apparently killed by TRW. I found a place in the UK last fall and bought a rebuild kit. All is well now.
If you really need to replace the whole thing take good measurements, including the rod length and look around. They are everywhere in the Hot Rod world. UK supplier has the Girling too. Lockheed and Girling Clutch Slave Cylinders for classic and vintage vehicles Tim |
Check out Modern Driveline's website. I had good luck with them. Recently bought a transmission and a bell housing-mounted slave cylinder from them.

What size is it? Maybe we have one or can point you in the right direction.

Try these guys:
CNC, Inc. - Manufacturers of Quality Pedals and Brake Components They made the master/slave cylinders that were on my car. I got a rebuild kit for pretty cheap. But if yours are not sleeved you should upgrade to the sleeved cylinders. Also, the common reason for a master/slave to fail is due to misaligned linkages. It makes an unlined cylinder fail much sooner. |
