Speedometer Issue

I installed all new gauges recently. I noticed yesterday that when I'm holding a steady speed of 60 mph the needle rises up to almost 70, stays there for a couple seconds then drops back down to 60 again. It's done that a couple times. I have no clue if this a faulty speedo, loose wire, cable problem etc. I was hoping someone here may have heard of this and can suggest a fix.

Thanks

Greg

It might just be the quality of the gauge.

Greg,

What gauges? Electronic speedo?

I had a customers car years ago that the speedo went UP as you were slowing down at about 70km/hr.
One tailshaft bolt was too long (wrong bolt) and caused interference with the reluctor ring signal from the rear of the gearbox.

I'm thinking more as a problem with the cable binding.... Try modifying the cable path to long sweeps and see what happens. Then try just slightly loosening the cable end at the speedo. The cable could be a bit too long.
