Finally got her out for a while

Monday (Labor Day) morning all the stars came into alighment and I got my ole Cobra out for awhile....had yard work to do and more work needed on my coupe project but I didn't do them. No grandkids came to visit and my mother was doing just fine! Weather was perfect, mid 60's to start and near 80 when we got home.

Rolled out of the driveway about 8:00 and headed to the Brookside area via the BA Expressway (hwy 51 from Broken Arrow in to Tulsa) . The entrance ramp off 71st near the BA Lowes is an awesome ramp. Of all the tracks and highways I have had my cars on this is the very best streetch of road. I have been known to pull over an wait for the traffic light to change and everyone in front of me has cleared the entrance before I make my RUN. The curve, the banking, the Cobra's rumble being echoed off the inside barrier, and rolling through all the gears is fricken awesome. I tell my wife that the entrance speed of 45 mph is just a suggestion for street cars. Never full throtle but a good amount of speed getting on the expressway so you can slow down to the posted speed of 65 but everyone drives 80.

Made it to Brookside in about 30 mins or so and got a great parking spot across from BBD. We sat outside and enjoyed a great breakfast. After that we cruised down Riverside Drive to the Rose Garden at Woodward Park. Parked to Cobra and spent at least an hour waking around the park. After that we cruised to Utica Square so Sharon could go by Crate and Barrel and Pier 1.

After that we cruised home south on Riverside drive thru South Tulsa and Bixby where we stopped at Five guys Burgers and fries for a little lunch before heading home. The best 5 hours I have spent in a long time. I need to spend more times like this with the wife and the Cobra. While in the Cobra I could hear my solid lifters working effortless with the high lift cam and the Holley carb sucking in fuel at 5 mpg. Before my next cruise I need to pick up about 5 gals of 110 octane to make sure everything gets the proper vitamins with its meal. :)

I hope all of you had a chance to enjoy your rides this weekend too. It is always nice to push off some of the need to do's for a little fun. Yard finally got mowed and edged about 3:30 after I took a little nap.

Clois,

Good for you. To many people put off doing some fun things and then something comes up and they don't get to do them. I hope that I will have my Coupe back one of these days and can drive it.

Ron ;)

Took mine out for about an hour yesterday. It was kind of special since my son and I shared driving duties. I try to get the Cobra out at least once a week, but it has been over a year since my son has had time to go with me. We waited until the sun had dropped a little (about 7:00pm) so the temperature was great! We drove up one of my favorite curvy roads toward the mountains and cleared it out just a little. Never get over how great this car is to drive.

Same here ... lots of rain kept it in the garage , but was clear yesterday . A friend of the car club owns a country club and invited us over for a cookout and a professional fireworks exhibit . He furnished everything , invited the folks in the community and put on an evening event/car show . Really cool driving back at night after it cooled off .
Mow the yard ?? I`ll get to it one of these days .

It is easy to forget how much of a stress reliever these cars are. Plus, I still get the thumbs up and picture takers from all ages every time I get out. It is fun to see people from all walks of life drive up beside you and roll their windows down to listen or take a picture. I am a lucky guy and I try be humble when answering questions.

Our car has sat way too much the last few years because of others hobbies we have. The summers are so short here in the Northeast making it near impossible to enjoy all the hobbies to the fullest.
Recently retired and survived all the celebration the wife had in store, the last being this past weekend.Plan now to get the Cobra out blow off the dust and circulate the new fluids.Amazing how fast the world passes us by must be having too much fun.
One of these days would like to hook up with some local Cobra owners for some fun.
Have been cruising and hot rodding around for near 50 yrs with like minded Harley riders, and of course all that love to ride.
