Don't laugh.. Need Help..Power Drivers Seat
Has anybody ever installed a power drivers seat that can adjust the height of the seat?
Looked at a Backdraft last week. Very nice car but my wife literally cannot see over the steering wheel. She is short. This is with the seat already raised 2 inches over stock. We always have bought cars both of us can drive. Would strongly prefer this over a seat pillow. I am going to call Corbeau tomorrow to inquire about any custom options. Thought I would check first here. I know ... I need to surrender my man card. |
No need to surrender your "man card". Got to keep the lady happy. If not, you won't be happy.

A friend of mine installed Porsche 6 way power seats in his Cobra and they worked great. Only problem was he had to get a heavier wire and relay for the control unit. And he had them on both sides.

er
I have installed a power seat unit on a Pantera for a woman that was very short. We used a six way6 seat base from a 1989 Thunderbird but any low profile unit should work with some fabrication.

Not trying to change your direction, just offering something that I know works on a Backdraft. I have the same issue with a short lady in the house.
The BD bottom seat cushion, at least on my #318, lifts out easily. You can just pick it up and take it out. I had an identical one made that "fits" her and it just drops right in. Keep it in the trunk. Put a couple of Velcro strips on the bottom and it sticks to the trunk carpet like glue so it doesn't fly around. But, the the second issue for her were the peddles also. I had to move those up a bit for her, including the throttle, to keep the steering wheel at her wrists. Not all that hard with available hardware, at least on mine. Not sure of the newer ones. I can tell you one thing for sure. I have had literally thousands of students come through our racing schools and if you are not comfortable and well set in the driving position with no compromises, it will never be fun.....and it will be dangerous sooner or later. Good luck! |
I second the previous post option I would think adding an electric seat would raise the seat quite a bit for the mechanism that would have to be underneath it.
according to how much height you need for her. what I have is a piece of closed cell foam approximately 2 inches thick cut to the shape of the base removable seat cushion l very lightly sprayed with 3m adhesive on both sides just to stop any shifting and hold it in place but is very easily lift it out when I use the car.when in place you can't even tell its there seat still looks regular. |
