I think by and large most parents try. The problem is depending on the event and the "class" of people attending there is always one or more in every crowd that will end up causing heartache and money.
I prefer to avoid the situation altogether except for some very select shows.

Irrelevant. But I do agree that kids should be welcome to a car show just as they are to a museum or library. As a parent it is your respnsibility to ensure that your child is properly prepared for such an occassion or restrained (hand holding not ropes!) if not.
