Road & Track Cover Auto: CSX 3134
Road & Track November 2013 Special Design Issue Cover: CSX3134
" Beauty doesn't always happen on purpose. From a mere 260 of which were sold with Ford's 427 big block. Thirty two 427s were built in narrow hip configuration, with sexier, tighter rear fenders replacing the standard competition spec flares. R & T contributor Colin's Comer's unrestored 1965 example, CSX3134, is one of them. For the cover of our first ever Design Issue, we wanted to celebrate the near accidental moment where luck and genius mix to produce something spectacular. If this isn't that, we don't know what is-Sam Smith " Picture caption, page 25: " 0-100-0 in 13.2 seconds. On 1960s tires. Yes " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__jKGX6rYSo http://www.colinsclassicauto.com/detail.php?car=344 |
A gentleman here in little ole Gainesville, Georgia, who I suspect prefers to remain unnamed, also has an essentially unmolested, black narrow hip 427.

Didn't the ERA boys have a street version?
|
I love the look of CSX 3134. I'm pattering my ERA somewhat after it - although the ERA body is not the narrow hip style. Black, smooth hood, no rollbar, undercar exhaust, dual quad FE, etc.

And the GT40 too. Great issue.

Not to hijack the thread, but another magazine I just got in the mail "Classic Motorsports" has a great article and pictures about CSX2384, unrestored, 9,900 original miles, owned by one family since new (a mechanic who worked at the Ford dealership in WV where the 289 sat as new) until it sold a few years ago to a new owner.
|
Just asking: is any vehicle unrestored if it had a paint job(other than the original one) during it's ownership?
