Sears Engine Analyzer
Hi all. I have an old (late 70's vintage) Sears engine analyzer (see pic).
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...humbs/0088.JPG I wanted to use it to "calibrate" my tach, but couldn't get a reading at all. I am using a Pertronix ignition module in my distributor. Could that be the problem? Anyone have any experience with one of these? Cheers Greg |
Don't think the old stuff is compatible with solid state ignition. Voltage level to fire pwr xstr compared to point type ( 12 vdc to grnd) is much too low to be seen by the older electronics w/o an adapter of some sort.

I would think it would work OK. They work on my Corvette's magpulse ignition system (CD). Red lead to plus side of coil and black to battery negative pole I think - don't use it enough to anymore to remember for sure without checking instructions.

Here are the instructions I've got:

For electronic ignition, it says see fig 2,3,4,5 & 6.
Do you have that photo? |
