Enclosed Transport
Can someone recommend a transport company to transport a cobra from west coast to east coast. I'm trying to keep the cost around $1300.

Not at that price. You won't get anybody reputable!

Ok, So what's the market price?

What part of west coast and east coast? What kind of time frame are you looking at, I will be heading out to bring my brothers fastback to Newport CA sometime in the next 3 months in our enclosed trailer. If you need done sooner I used someone about a year ago and will look for name and number.

From the larger players, I received bids of $2k +/- to ship my ERA from CT to CA. I used Interstate but would not recommend them.

You have to narrow down the pick up area and the delivery area so a price can be set. I do just what you want and could recommend my company with a pm. We aren't cheap but it is door to door service and liftgate loaded. Stay away from brokers they will skin you alive. Bill is correct in saying to stay with a major company.

1300 will get the car to Nebraska.

Call this guy, I got it from Detroit to West coast for $1800 last April. He may be able to work a better deal with a different truck. I asked for the best truck and mine was in with a Bugati and 2 vipers, enclosed double deck, very nice and absolutely no problems and arrived a day early.

I just used Passport to bring my car from Las Vegas to 90 miles east of Chicago. $1700 and I was very pleased with everything, especially the gps tracking (free) option so you can see everywhere the truck goes. Great driver too, with really interesting stories.

The driver was the most mechanically unsympathetic gorilla I have ever seen. I would buy a trailer and do it myself rather then use Intercity. |

And that was at the lower end of the shipping price spectrum. http://www.angelstransport.com/ |
We move a LOT!!! and as such have used a multitude of vendors. For the daily drivers we get a corporate rate from DAS. I wouldn't use them if I had to pay for it myself...but to give you idea. They move 2 cars, open carrier from Denver to Connecticut for $1300 each (and didn't treat either well)
I moved 2 other cars and a bike from denver to CT enclosed transport with INTERCITY (who I will use from this point forward) for $4200. We've used Passport, Enclosedvehicletransport, Horseless (also did well....but NOT cheap), and I'm sure a couple others I wouldn't trust my cobra with anyone that would move it from west coast to east coast for $1300. I think you're probably double that for a decent company. If the weather was better, I'd do it for airfare and expenses, which is still more than $1300 I'd be willing to bet |
I just shipped a Cobra and 1947 Chevy Pickup from Middle Tenn to Washington state enclosed with Parkway for less than $3500.00 Took four days door to door. The driver was great and the equipment was new. I used Door to Door Transport (broker) to find Parkway.

I used Reliable Auto Transport from Nor Calif to SoCal in an enclosed double-stack. Driver was very good and careful. He kept in touch with me all the way down. Showed up at both ends on time as promised. That was in 2008 and it ran $1,350.

Intercity, picked car up out front of house and delivered to Shelby Los Vegas $1900 insures and the car was covered in the enclosed trailer. They checked the car for any type of scratch or damage before loading. This was for insurance claims. The car arrived as it left my garage perfect! $1300 was a price quoted for an open trailer, be ware of cheap quotes they willpick up at their leasure and deliver the same way!
