1962 Shelby CSX Roadster - One Of The First Cobras Ever Bu for sale | Hemmings Motor News
I'm sure it is advertised elsewhere. |
Pretty far from original for $850,000 but I'd still like to own it!

I know a guy with an original street 260. It's an amazing little car, original paint, nothing done to make it look new.

Spare me. |
I rode in a 260 Cobra with a neighbor that had rescued it from a flood in Central Texas back in '85 or '86. It had also been fitted with a 289 and Webbers early in its life. Pretty amazing little car! I remember thinking that, up to that point in time, I'd ridden a lot of motorcycles that weren't as quick as that car. Outside of a big-bore air-cooled Porsche engine with Webbers on it, I'd never heard anything that sounded as good, much less better. NOTHING I had heard before sounded as good as being in that car with the Webbers wide open in front and the duals with glass-packs out back mixing together with equal volume. It's an awesome sound. and I always think of that sound when I see a Cobra of any stripe.
I wonder if the wife will let me park my ffr in the living room... P.S. - If I had the money, I'd try to buy it. Eric |

Crazy it has to be such a secret......
Never going to get that part of our hobby |
It's probably no coincidence that 2065 was for sale through a Nevada classic car shop last winter at the exact same price.

I don't think the CSX should be a secret. For me my families name is kept out of registries.
I don't know if things have changed with my friends across the pond(G.B.) but the Brits use to lean toward and favor the early worm-and-sector 260Cobras. I drove a 260 in the late 1970's with mostly original equipment. I still like the later 289's much better. |
From what I have been told, many of the European buyers prefer the early cars no so much for how they drive, but because they are considered more "true" to their AC Ace and Bristol ancestors, and less modified by Shelby. In other words, they prefer their cars more European than American. Hey, its their money.

As far as I know the early cars did not have side vents
