DV 1, 2, 3, & Miss DV-Wendy
I have been trying for months to put this to Club Cobra without success. Then as of last week I knew I had to get to the heart of it all. For those that don't know me or the family that well Wendy is my Daughter. Wendy was diagnosed with a brain tumor during the last Fling.
What I have called family for years is All of you, all of us Cobra owners/builders. When Wendy was first diagnosed the Cobra family took it upon them self's to support, donate and pray for us. Five years later, being an avid 'runner' since elementary school, Wendy called me busting ear to ear, she had finally gotten the chance to go back into training for a marathon she had wanted to run since middle School. All that training and running for years -all those miles- paid off. Wendy was accepted and qualified to run The Boston Marathon! More training, more running, right up to December of last year. MRI's, more CAT scans and... the Tumor had become active once again. God love this family of ours. At this point I am going to take the liberty of borrowing RN Carie's fabulous words.. 2014 Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Columbus 5K Run and Walk: Carie Thompson - American Brain Tumor Association Carie Thompson's Story About Wendy I am participating and fundraising in memory of an amazing woman who crossed my path just a few short months ago in August 2013. I had the privilege of getting to know Wendy when I became one of her many nurses. August 24, 2013. Wendy was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma in 2004. After countless surgeries and courageously fighting, Wendy's battle ended in December 2013. She, in our regards, won the war, as she touched countless lives, including my own. I have never met a stronger woman, or more wonderful family. Wendy was in the hospital for nearly four months straight, and Wendy, nor her family, ever lost hope or good spirit. The love John and Wendy shared was like a fairytale. I have never seen such a strong love between two people. Many times as Wendy lied in pain in her hospital bed, she expressed her concern for her husband and always said she would be fine as long as he was okay. Wendy's husband, John, expressed the importance of fundraising in lieu of flowers, and as a woman who loved to run, what better way to remember Wendy than participating in this 5K. That is all I have folks. Thank you and may God bless. DV |
Prayers for you, DV.

Very sad to hear of your loss. Sounds like she was a wonderful young lady. This is not how it's suppose to be. Parents should not have to see their children perish.
God bless you and her. Ted |
Prayers and God bless......

Dv,
She was a wonderful little girl and it is so sad that it had to happen. My prayers have been with you for quite a while and she is now in a far better place, but I know from personal; experience that words really don't help a lot. God bless you and your family. Ron  |
Ed that's so sad to hear. Nobody could ever doubt your incredible love and commitment to your family, and it's lovely to see that Wendy also had people like Carie around in her final months and days.
Thinking if you and your family at this sad time. |
Ed...for her strength and love for all of you, what a beautiful life she lived.
|
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... As you have given to others throughout your life both personally and professionally so has Wendy. Be proud in this difficult time.

Thoughts and prayers to your family, Ed. So sorry for your loss. Having met you, I know what a fine person Wendy was.
|
Beth and I are very sorry to hear this news Ed. I'm glad we got the chance to meet such a wonderful lady. Wendy, you, and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. :(

DV I am so sorry for your loss. Then is nothing like the pain a parent feels in losing a child. I pray for you and your family to have the strength to move forward. I know these are difficult times and I know there is nothing that can be said that will help. God bless you DV. Hang in there my friend.

Sorry to hear about your loss

Sounds like she was a wonderful person with a very positive outlook on life despite her illness. Her time was short but special.
I lost my beloved mother earlier this year and the pain of loss gradually gave way to pride in all she did for others and happiness that she lived her life following what she believed was her calling. From what we've read about your Wendy, I'm sure you will soon find yourself feeling proud of her courage and happy that she was able to chase her dreams. All the best to you and your family Ed. A remarkable woman from a wonderful family, sincere condolences to you and your family. - Tim |
God bless you and the family
She is with the Lord now and in a much better place, I know it leaves a hole
but time will help. I did not know her but I have followed the posts, She had a wonderful family that helped her. |
Thank you for sharing your daughter and her beautiful life with us. Only those that lost their sons or daughters can possibly understand the joy and grief you experience at this time. I am praying for God to be your refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. Your manner in honoring and loving her is a testimony to all.
