Larry, my boss is also an established artist. He would be working on these pieces. Eric, I came on this site to get to know the possible customer base, not to make money, but because I have a love for these cars and would relish the chance to be a part of the process of making them into art. Large, we don't have a specific price estimate to go on yet, it all depends on shop time and material cost, I threw three thousand out there because that's the highest it would go. Also, since you know Lonnie, you know his personality. He and I go back and forth all day long. I came on here for feedback not to be insulted, that $30 comment was a direct insult and downright rude. Ii may have reacted pretty brash and also, Eric, I know not all the cobras are real and hundreds of thousands of dollars, there are good kit cars out there and I know it. They all still look beautiful and yes they are each a piece of art on their own. I would lie to be able to cast some and go to one of the big cobra gatherings, especially the California one. Unfortunately my boss is not a at guy and isn't willing to risk investing in a big project that he's not sure will e successful. If I could fund it from my own pocket, you bet if be at every one of those events.

I hear your points, but its like a chicken and egg thing. I doubt anyone would pay the max, but may pay something less if they visibly saw and held the product. I would say all the cars are works of art with each builder being the artist. Most all love their cars and have made the finances work to build them, buy and own them. Some would no doubt have interest in the product, but for me, likely not as I have so many other vices that compete for my affections and money.

Bernica, I wish it were easier to say what it would cost. I want to aim to make them for around $500-700. I think we got somebody interested in being the first. Once that happens I'll have a closer price point. If the price is right as well as the market I would have a fighting chance of getting permission and funding to go to Monterey in the fall.

At Unique, didn't you guys screw hundreds of people out of millions of dollars and get closed down by the feds for VIN tampering and a Ponzi/Pyramid scheme. Something about turning 6cyl rusty Mustang fastbacks into "Licensed by Shelby" abominations selling for over 100K. I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for your ex clients, or for anyone that associates with the old company with his head still held high as if they did nothing wrong.

With the way your company was run,and the money spent on extravagant things, I would think you would be the last person to comment on a thread like this, let alone admit you were associated with them here in public :rolleyes:

With all due respect Bill you do not know me so lumping me in with the thieves that ran the business is out of line and insulting. I worked at Unique for less than 5 months before getting laid off as part of the bankruptcy and consider myself as one of the employee victims that also got screwed. I lost tens of thousands myself moving from out of state to work for them only to lose my job and find out I couldn't even file for unemployment because they never paid the state of Texas the money they were taking out of my paycheck (which bounced the last time they tried to pay us) and consequently I lost several months of unpaid wages that was promised to me.

So yes, there were thieves who ran the place but there was also 100's of hard working people there who loved their jobs that were not involved in what was happening at the top of the company.

The purpose of my post was to point out that there are other bronze sculptures, of very high quality, that were made and sold at a much higher price than $3K

If you want to get into a separate debate regarding Unique, it's business practices, and the granddaddy thief of them all (Carroll Shelby) and how he helped mastermind the demise of the business I would suggest you take it to another thread.

Wow. That's a lot to take in. Anyways, there is no talking down the price and there is little room for negotiation on it. Once we cast the first one, we will know the casting cost, we don't make much profit, we basically just break even on everything. But we love what we do so it works out. I'm glad to finally be getting some positive feedback, though. It's rekindling my hope for the possibilities of this project. :)

I'll humbly apologize for grouping you in with the scumbags that were management at Unique. A lot of people lost millions of dollars with them.....Yet at the same time, knowing they spent their money poorly is yet another example of what caused their demise......
