Part #'s for FE PCV/grommet

I currently have two breather caps on my FE 427 and want to change one to a PCV. I have the reproduction pentroof valve covers from Cobranda with 1 1/4" holes. Just went to NAPA auto parts and had no problem finding the PCV for an FE but the grommets are all 1 1/8" for all the searches he did. Any part numbers or ideas? This shouldn't be this hard...

Maybe I should not try to find this locally and just go to Jegs or Summit.

Thanks Guys. Fred, I think that is the same grommet that kept coming up for all the searches for mid-60's Fords. It fits a 1 1/8" hole.

does the hole your putting it in have notches in it? or is it just a round hole

kevins2 01-04-2014 04:15 PM

Round hole, no notches. I went to a different parts store today and found everything. Thanks.

Hey kevins2. So what parts store and what part number? I'm looking for spares too.

Cheers

Hi Greg,

I went to Advance Auto and found the grommet on the shelf as Jon indicated above. What's important is to measure the hole in your valve cover. I got a Mr. Gasket #6376 for a 1 1/4" hole. They didn't have the PCV in stock so went to Pep Boys and asked for a PCV for a '66 Ford Galaxie with an FE427. That yielded a Purolator PV754.

Thanks Kevin.

I did the same today and the Mr. Gasket grommet worked great. I also used a PCV with a right angle - part number Fram FV329. This has a 3/8" hose barb that matched the one in the back of the carb.

Thanks for the help.

The reason I wanted to change one of my breathers was because the breather on the driver's side was spitting a good amount of oil - about the size of a quarter on the valve cover after 80 or so miles. I put the PVC valve in the passenger side (closer to the vacuum port on the back of the carb). Drove 70 miles today and no hint of oil, so that solved the problem.
