Nicer heater shut-off valve options
ERA supplied an NPT to 5/8" barb shut-off valve so I can stop coolant flow during warmer weather. I want a valve, but this one looks like it's from Home Depot. Has anyone found a nicer alternative? I could get an aluminum in-line valve from Fragola or Peterson, but they are meant for fuel and not cooling systems. Then again, most of the engine is aluminum so I don't see why they wouldn't be compatible.

I put my shut off valve next to the core between the fire wall and dash - out of sight.

I just dressed it up a little with a little ivory cream colored paint.

I was going to say the same thing on the stopwatches. Really nice. Where did you get those, and the mount?

I used this one High Quality Heater Control Valve for Ford Fiesta Transit Ka Pumablack | eBay and trimmed the excess plastic off and hid it under the fender. It takes 12V to close it. But I'm not a guy who's worries about originality.

This works well. We hide them under the fender or under the dash. |
Although a little utilitarian in appearance, isn't the shut off valve used by ERA (as seen in Patrick's picture above) pretty much what Shelby installed? Well, maybe without the paint. It appears pretty much identical in appearance to what I see on original cars.

What Patrick has in the photo is very close to original. There are chrome ones sold by a lot of the restoration houses like Drake and so on.

The heater control valve in the ERA is the same one I had in my bug eyed Sprite in the 60's. Turns the heat on and off. Goes along with the no power anything on the car );-)
