Online Cobra Registry???
Does anyone know if there was ever any thought of an online Cobra Registry. Something available online to people that had made a purchase or a seperate subscription price for an online copy.
I can think of many pros and cons of such access. I mean it's not many pages, right? :eek:
I do not have a copy where I'm located right now and last night was informed that a vehicle may be available. One you will not see advertised because ones like this usually change hands under private terms.
And I didn't want to ask someone detailed info to raise more questions.

Yes, there has been thought.. no, it will not be available in the near term... but. it is not off the table. |

Ron,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I hear that there won't be another hard published copy of Cobras. Is that true?
Has SAAC considered an online addendum to the Registry? BTW, I'm not implying giving it away...;)

I know more than a few archives that could use one. The 1982? version I used so much back then most of the pages became lose. And then with handwritten notes all over the place and names and addresses penciled in what a mess. I've never been big on owners names being displayed but that goes back to my granddads time when Bugatti published an owners directory and wreaked havoc. Well sort of.
I had one of my daughters overnight me the registry this morning.

We have got a few years to ponder that, given the edition cycle of 8 to 10 years. :cool:
New history keeps surfacing and ownership does continue to change.
It could very well be that the 5th edition is electronic. Time will tell. |

I didn't want to say anything cause it's not first hand intel, however I heard there was a special "Purebred Edition" that only included real ones.
Meaning sections that are excluded are completion cobras, Brock coupes, CSX4000 and above series,Kirkham, safir and stuff like that.

Online could help to keep it update with the circle it has until the newest editions turn up. Have an equal registration fee as with the book and everyone benefits. I bet a hard copy could be done from a electronic database maybe even more easy from time to time for those who love to read it in front of the fireplace.

I'm sure when it is time for an update all options will be looked at. Collier in Naples has all those college guys from Stanford churning out their archive into digital format. |

"Purebred Edition"? That's funny, especially on the heels of allegedly one of the CSX3016's being auctioned off recently.
If we're truly talking about purebred, then that edition may only be a couple pages. :LOL: :LOL: :LOL: |

Years ago at Monterey I gave away what amounted to a few boxes of stuff I had collected on Cobras. Some people took just for the taking and I feel bad because I know some of the cobra guys would appreciate some of the stuff. I had hundreds of decals and some repros of the dragonsnake logo, I don't remember the mag but I had a few with Shelby and the owners signature that were featured on the cover. This came out around the time of a SAAC in Aneheim. gave away about 2 dozen copies of april 1966 Motor Trend signed by Bill Harrah which featured a major article on his collection. A few of Cosby's 200mph vinyl record signed. dozens of cool photos given away that I purchased from the Ford archives when they were made available some time ago. One of my assistants copied some of the material and made repros of press kits of the GT40, Mustang and cobra. I think those came from Shelby's PR man Don Rabbitt.
My question is that I gave a documented steering wheel from a wrecked vehicle at this time. Now I'm not mentioning anything else other than that but you mean allegedly someone can build a million dollar car around this steering wheel? |

There is no VIN on the wheel, so you still have a REAL1 but not an original :) |

I gave it away but it came from a real car. I was just wondering, I stated documented because I knew the history but no paperwork other than a pic of the car before it was wrecked. It wasn't a cobra. |

When REVS Institute gets everything digital I'm not sure what kind of access it will have. Collier has spent millions just to do this. What if he has a registry that the guys from Stanford University already converted and is offered online along with others in the future.
That is something to think about. Copyright infringements?, I am not the law, although I do a good Stallone impression. Hey Jambo might know.

My difficulty with an online registry is the fact that the data could be manipulated. Like there are no hackers when it comes to cars now bringing close to a million $ to "adjust" some negative history? Right.:confused:
