You beat me to it...
I noticed in the claims posted that as the sidewalls decreased, the tire widths increased. Not really a true comparison, now is it?
There is so much more than wheel diameter to determine which is best. Compounds, tire brand, offset, rim width, suspension settings, alignment, etc. Ever weigh a set of 18" or larger wheels and tires? Quite a bit heavier than 15s. Think this has any effect on handling? Can you say unsprung weight? You can't just slap on a set of wheels and tires and expect them to perform if the car wasn't designed for them. The only sure truth is that you can fit bigger brakes. Otherwise there are too many variables. I personally have a set for the street and a set for the track. |

18's on the Cobra I just picked up.
|
hmmmmmmm; that does not look to bad...on the front.
What tires/size does it have? |
I really flop back and forth on this issue. I like the classic look of 15's but the 18's look darn good too.

looks.. .vs... realities.. and letting go of that fact that we don't have original cars.....and we want to get the MOST out of what we do have.

285 front/ 335 rear... But once I make some performance upgrades I'll be switching the rear to the Toyo R888 street slic. I run them on my 9sec 87 Grand National and they hold up pretty well. |
Perfect to know... as it is very easy to over read.... the advertisements.. and get something that is track only.. or some stupid hard street tire.
The real world feedback is GREATLY appreciated. (Hell I have slicks on my tubbed out Chevelle and .... I hit the streets every Saturday night.............) |
So have the new 18" Nittos on.
WOW!! LOVE the handling!! LOve feeling the acceleration. not wild about the 4x4 look. (yes I was aware of it.. and the diameters are about the same.. but the narrow tire tricks the eye to it looking more than it is) Anyone lower the car/springs? |

true true....
in reality it is not that big of a difference in the wheel well gap.. but the MENTAL block. Driving the car was a whole new experience. WOW |

Hi everyone,
I also like the 15 inch tire look. Can anyone provide postive feedback for a good 15 inch street tire? |
