Parts survey for all SB owners
I'll save details for later, just a survey.
Are you interested in a Quality, all USA built PUKE TANK Specifically designed for 351's?? True exact reproduction made from "Air Set" molds instead of the poured standard? (Much smoother and flaw less with Air Set". No modifications needed to mount to the 351's, has the identical shape, size and ribbing as the original. Black as the original ones or the raw gray casting color. Price hadn't been set yet but they will be a LOT cheaper than the reproduction tanks on the marker today! Depending on what I find out, production is probably two months away. DV |

Not a machinist or tool and die kind of guy. The Molds (?) are done, the mock up was perfect, but none of the tanks have been "set" yet. All I can say at this point, mounts like the original only manufactured for s 351. (Will it fit a "302". 5.0? I only think it will but not sure yet? That's the reason for the poll. To find out if there is enough interest to go to the next step. Then of course the first production run will be fairly small to see if there really is a market like I think there would be. I have mounted the stock tanks to a 351 but the labor is extremely intensive! (For guys that have a small but ongoing and nagging overheating problem, this set up could be a dream!) I have seen this Mom & Pop's custom made low plane, level dual quad set ups. Their manifolds are awesome. He even molds/cast in the runner (free option) #'s like Ford used to! From Trips to the 4 degree off set that some cars need to make the carb(s) level, to dual quad hi-rises, their work is honestly immaculate! In fact, any day now I expect to take deliver of a low plane - flat manifold with twin Holley 475's, custom fuel log and exact original style throttle linkage. (He modifies each and every Holley, bench/flows each one and matches both to operate as one!) Just darned impressive! DV This is going on a LoneStar Cobra I am building with a Ford Racing 351/427. |
If it will mount up to a 302 and $ is reasonable, I would be interested. Post some pics.

Are you thinking one for a 351W styled like the FE expansion tank?
Larry |
Larry, exactly.
|
Got it. I have one of Kirkham's billet tanks but I think a true accurate bolt-on like the FE uses is a good idea.
Larry |
I'd be very interested...

These wont be Billett, more like a true reproductions. but of course for the SB's.
DV |
I'm interested.

One step closer to reality.
Talked to "Mom and Pop" this morning, seems a cobra builder in Australia has asked them to do the same thing I have. Since this does appear to be viable option for a quality OEM reproduction at less than half the price some company's are asking for. They are going to also offer the straight "air poured" casting, ( air poured makes the final product very smooth!) clear coated castings, or any color done in powder coating for the discriminate buyer :) More to come as things get finalized.
