Car Shows

Hi all,

I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong place!

I'm getting to the point where I can send my car off to a painter, but I'm having trouble picking a color (leaning toward some dark blue non-metalllic with white stripes). I thought it'd be nice to see some other cars in person, as I'm not sure how the colors really look from pictures on the computer monitor.

I'm living in the Madison area in Wisconsin, but don't mind driving a couple hours for some large cobra gathering. Any ideas? I've tried to search, but usually feel like I'm not finding anything. I see some posts on here indicating people get together on weekends, so I was hoping this happens around me too.

Please let me know

Thanks,

Fritz

You might need to make a decision sooner, but the SAAC 39 gathering is May 17-18 at Road America and you'll see MANY Cobras.

London Cobra Show is in May in Ohio. Hundreds of Cobras to compare. I went there to select the color for mine! Worth the trip.

Ford twilight blue. Metallic enough to light up bright in the sun
, yet show as deep midnight blue in the shade. And the paint won't cost an arm and a leg...

Checkout my gallery photo to see if you like it. The color code is easily found online but if you need I can look through my paperwork.

You might look at the pictures in Lippys build thread of his ERA - very deep, dark blue - almost looks black. Look in Cobra Build Logs.

Isn't the London show in June, rather than May?

PSB 04-06-2014 07:43 PM

Yes, 19-22 June

I'm planning to go...sounds like a lot of Cobras to see. Wish it was earlier, but I can wait...maybe I'll be able to bring a completed car to the next one...thanks again, everyone!

Events/shows......

Fritz,
There really is not much going on in Wi cobra-wise. You can go to the races at RA and probably meet a few people. The porsche club has always been friendly to me and the cobra/gt40. For regular get togethers the chicago club is always doing something. Its a bit of a drive, but probably the best shot. I have seen a few cobras around milwaukee the past ten years, but not many. Scott

Hi Scott,

I was afraid of that...I have seen only a handful of Cobras around the Madison and Milwaukee area. I don't mind driving at this point. I just really want some help picking a color for paint...after that I can cruise alone happily...probably not as fun as a group, but it's hard not to have fun in a fast car...
