Tires
About a week ago hdheritage97 started a "What tires you running" thread. I read the replies with interest as I am due for replacements. I realize that getting a difinitive answer about something as clearly religious as tires is alot ot expect but ....... Anyway, I am currently running Dunlop GT Qualifiers 295/50/15 and 265/50/15 on Compomotive wheels. They are wearing thin and I was looking for something a little softer mostly for the street. No big surprise there aren't a whole lot of 15' tires left for our beasts. So after much Web and tire talking research, I came up with a list of the available choices. How about if anybody interested order the list by your favorite brand. Any additions are welcome.
Street Tires Only 305/50/15 - 295/50/15 or 265/50/15 Dunlop GT Qualifier Cooper Cobra Radial G/T BFGoodrich Radial T/A BFGoodrich Euro T/A (no 265/50/15) Goodyear Eagle GT II (no 265/50/15) Yokohama Avid S/T (no 265/50/15) Firestone Firehawk SS20 (no 265/50/15) Hoosier Radial GT (no 265/50/15) What's the best street rubber? |

Toyo Proxy S/T, H Rated (130 mph), 275/60/15 all around. I have heard that they also make a 295/50/15.

Cooper Cobra
We have been using the Cooper Cobras for the last few years and I have been very happy with them. 235/60 fronts and 295/50 rears. I've also been using them on my personal vehicles. They are a fairly soft tire (compared to other street tires) and seem to have a good tread life to them. They are also fairly inexpensive compared to a lot of the other brands out there.

15" tires
Marty,
Who sells the BFG EURO T/As here in the states? I can find many retailers for the regular BFG Radial T/As, but not the Euros. Thanks, Drew |
I thought that the Euro TA's have been discontinued.

I struggled with this for months.
After months of research the cooper and Yoko's seems to be the softer better traction tire. I went with the yoko's, very cheap, they will be getting the "real" test in Apr?(hopefully) gn |

The Tire Rack rates the Firestone Firehawk well above the BFG Radial T/A, the Dunlop GT Qualifier and the Goodyear II. Has anyone had any seat of the pants time comparing the Firehawk and the BFG?
p.s. I wrote a letter to Coker asking whether they had any performance tires in our beloved 15" size for Cobras and Cobra replicas. Bob Couter politely responded that they do not sell carry any such tire. Coker caters to a pretty obscure audience, so I I think that if they had an appreciation for the potential market, they might be interested. I don't think that they fully understand the potential market for such a product. Is there some way to make the strength of our demand known? Coker's e-mail address is "info@coker.com" . |
you have exhausted the list. I went with 17's...

Yokohama DOT auto-x tires best for street.
