Titling a Unique Cobra in Georgia

Longtime lurker around Club Cobra, but might be ready to take the plunge. Need some help from the "experts" around here about titling a cobra in Georgia. I am looking at a Unique that has the VIN plate from Unique with the date of manufacture (1994) and the 4 digit VIN number attached to the frame, but it has never been titled before (car dealer drove it using a dealer tag). What all do we need to title in Georgia? After reading and talking to some on the nightmares of getting a title, I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before purchasing. I am calling Unique in the morning to see if they can "re-issue" a title and will be checking on getting a lost title, but I'm sure someone on here has run into this issue before.
Thanks

If the dealer doesn't have Unique's MSO still, you would definately need to get the ID number for the car and talk to Unique and see if they will re-issue a MSO to you if you buy it - or better yet, tell the seller he will have to get one from them in order for you to make an offer on it. Don't know any of the particulars of Georgia but you should be able to go to their website and find information on titling replica or custom cars.

CSW: First off, you will not be able to get a "Title" for the car in Georgia, but you can "register" it and drive it every day. Georgia will not issue a title to a car that was not originally "titled", I.e., like a 1966 Cobra.

You need a bill of sale and proof of insurance. My Streetbeast has a 4 digit VIN & I got it registered with no problem.

So, get some insurance first, then just say "I need to get a tag". If you live in one of the "smog" counties of Ga, you may have to get an emission inspection.

I hope this helps. I did not need my MSO to get a tag.

Thanks, but I think we are going to pass on this one. After second drive I think we are going to have more in it to get it back up to par than we can buy a turnkey for. Love this forum as there is always plenty of knowledge to help others!

CSW, I have a Unique Cobra for sale. The car is currently sitting at Unique to sell. There are plenty of pictures in my gallery. The engine is a 427 Windsor stroker built by Southern Automotive down in McDonough. The car is torch red with white stripes, four speed toploader and Jag IRS rear end. It's a sweet ride, but I developed this addition to flying helicopters and can't feed both.
