Another milestone in a scratch build journey

Another milestone in a scratch build journey.

Yesterday I visit my painter down in Ennis and he said "after the blackening off the wheel wells and final cut and buff the body will be done on Tuesday.

So, the car will be loaded on the trailer and the body will join the chassis -- then home for final assembly.

Ladies and gentleman -- 289FIA body Wimbledon white....

Looks Good ..Like the White. Something different, Classy.

Bill D 04-19-2014 11:13 AM

I agree with frdfver; VERY classy!

Pete,

Beautiful color … classy and classic!

Are you going to paint the fender vents or leave them bare aluminum?

G-Pete 04-19-2014 01:54 PM

I contemplated for a while about the painted louvers. Finally i decided to go with the natural finish because there is so much bare alu in the car. To be period correct, they needed to be white but...personal preference won :3DSMILE:

Maybe have him paint those while they are there and you can be sure they will match?

You can always get another unpainted set later.

I actually have two sets. The painted ones are in, and the bare ones are in the box.

Either way, your FIA is going to look great! Nothing wrong with personal preference :)

White really shows off the body lines on these cars from my point of view. Chrome and polished aluminum works really well with that color.

They had one white 289FIA - that's what I'm after.....
