Knockoff Wheel clocking
 
This sounds unusual, but I have found it's a hassle. A few months ago I removed the wheels as a maintanence item. After re-installing them and tightening the knock offs and setting it down off the jack stands, I realized that because of the clocking of the valve stem in relation to the tightening position of the spinner and safety wire fitament that the valve stem had become difficult to access with the air chuck for inflating the tires (for real!)
I have 6 pins on my adapters instead of the more common 5. In reality this is a minor issue but since I have to check and usually adjust the air pressures once a week it is a PIA. I think this is more of a problem with 6 spokes and 6 pins. I was just wondering if it was a problem for others with the more common 5 pin adapters ??

I never noticed any problem with mine but won't say it couldn't happen. I just figured if it did I would use another ear of the knock off as mine are drilled to use any one of them.

Yes it can happen with 5 pin adapters. I just replaced my tires and now one spinner ear is pretty much in front of the valve stem. Not a huge issue just more of a pain in the ...........!

First time I've ever heard of it. Good catch.
My valve stems are located in such a way that I'll never have that problem.

Pretty simple solution... Remove the wheel and rotate it 1 or 2 pins and re-install.

I would think the time it took to post this you could have removed the wheel and rotated it 180 degrees and done, as Richard (Exact 427) suggested.
No big deal.

You have to check once a week? What tires and wheels?
I know Billboards will lose air. Avons go months with no loss.
When you find an acceptable position, reach through the wheel and paint a dab on the hub, lining up the [very thing you're trying to avoid ;)] valve stem and marker. Then your spinner ears will wire on to 'empty' spokes.

I have a small yellow mark on the hub and another on the wheel so the wheel goes on at the same location every time. I can use the safety wire several times before replacing with this method.

Simple. Just buy magnesium Halibrand Cobra II's and you don't have that problem.

I drilled the knockoffs to a matching pin hole then slide in the matching pin with cotter key and cover with plug , no wire to explain why I have it there . The wire could look macho to some and hokey to some others ,Something about better living through better engineering .
