installing a new clutch slave in an era. can't get the metal tube out of the slave that comes from the fluid reservoir up top. it appears to be pushed into a rubber gromet on top of the slave. anyone know the trick to getting this little bugger out?

For some reason I'm not clear what metal tube you are having a problem with. Can you post a picture of it? Is it the BMW model slave cylinder?

I trust that you are talking about the feed line to the BMW master cylinder, not the slave. If it is the slave, you've got a non-standard setup.
The steel feed line has a bulge (basically an un-flattened double flare) that fits into a groove in the master cylinder "in" grommet. It's just pressed in by hand. Nothing permanent.
