Cockpit covers
Has anyone used a car cover from California Pop Tops? These are small white covers that are supposed to keep in interior heat way down. They cover the windshield and back over to the rear of the cockpit.
I was wondering if anyone has used of these, how they work and most importantly if they found one that fits a Cobra. They don't show one for a Cobra on the site. Thanks |
I use something like it from California Car Covers: Custom-Fit Car Interior Covers - California Car Cover Company. They make one specifically for a Cobra, with or without roll bar, and it fits well. I think it's easier than a tonneau cover. What I like about it is that it attaches securely so even in a windy place it stays put and won't do any damage.

I have a California car cover, it is silver and 1 year old. Barely used, tend to use the tonneau cover instead. It does not get that warm here. You can have it for $75 it was about $150 new. I really do not use it and it is in excellent condition. It tis over the roll bar, has two clips for the rear fenders, two clips that hook inside of the boot and two Velcro straps for the windshield wipers.

I think this is a great idea and I have thought about cutting up one of my covers to fashion such a cover. I didn't know they made them, thanks!

I have one of the California cockpit covers.
It is the one for the Miata. Works great. It clips under the wheel wells and the hood closes on one end. I have used it car shows, if the weather threatens, put it on, after the rains, let it dry, fold it up, put in trunk, clean car and continue. Jim |
PiggyBack Cover
I haven't heard of the California car cover before but I do have a Piggyback Cover that is snapless and covers the cockpit. A good quality tonneau cover made down in GA that I would recommend.
Here is a pic of mine - sorry not the best picture as this was a pic that I took when the cover arrived in the middle of winter and just wanted to snap a pic of how well it fit. http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0b1405e5.jpg |
