Summer Run
Its only about 2 weeks away. Has anyone seen anything on a possible venue for this year yet? We went to the Sarotoga auto museum last year which worked out well. We have plans to go up the week before, looking forward to it.

Lake George Summer Run was cancelled this year. The Cadillac Club beat them to the date. There's a New Hampshire group putting on an event for that weekend.

Actually there is a new function manager at the fort William Henry, and he wanted his Cadillac buddies there that weekend, and he couldn't care less that we had been there faithfully for the past 15 years, he booted us without blinking an eye, there are names for people like that, I hope it rains for the whole weekend and every year on that weekend.

When did that happen, I just did a search and nothing was ever posted about it being cancelled.....are you sure? We switched our vacations around at work to make sure we could attend this...

I lived in Lake George when this happened I can confirm it.

This really ticks me off. So it sounds like it happened a while ago. I just wish the organizers of the event could have simply posted to let people know that it was cancelled, especially after 11 years, so people didn't screw up their vacations.
What I don't understand is, this place has over 1000 cars on the grounds come September for the Adirondack Nationals car show. You mean they couldn't fit a couple of Cobras. I know Cadillacs are big, but come on... Well.... plans have been made and its too late to switch now, so I guess I'll still take the car up and enjoy the mountains... |

It was posted over at FFCars for quite some time. Pat |

As far as it being on FFCars, I don't own a FFR so I don't have any reason to be on that site, and besides, they surely promoted it here over the years, so why couldn't they cancel it here too, out of courtesy?? I'm just annoyed at finding out so late in the game, maybe we would have gone to the Shore instead, but with July 1st less than a week away, the chances of getting a reservation is probably zippooo. I didn't even tell the wife yet....this ought to be fun :JEKYLHYDE |
There are multiple reasons the Lake George run was doomed. It's not just the Cadillacs. The original organizer, Greg, sold his B&B cobra 3 years ago and has been working with Henry (FFR builder) to keep the run going. Henry is now deployed to Afghanistan and Greg had had enough. Also there were other politics involved with this ICBomber fellow so it was time to kill the gathering. I went to every one of these runs but the first one and it was struggling in the end.
I'm sure you can still get a place to stay. The Green Mountain Cobra's got a block of rooms at the Eastman Inn B&B (great place right in town). I posted this because I knew some of us without FFR cars don't go to that forum and many of us might want to know about this weekend. Tim |
Tim,
Maybe you are mixing me up with someone else, I would like to know how I had anything to do with the demise of the Lake George Run? Something, I have not attended since 2010. I have had other commitments, my son has a Lacrosse tournament (1812 Shootout) on the same weekend, but always let others on my email list know of the dates. If they do not show, it is not on me, "herding cats" as you would say. Pat |
